We have great news!  On October 1, 2009, history will be made in the Utah wilderness campaign!  After years of persistent citizen activism and dedication to the protection of Utah’s treasured landscapes, the House of Representatives will hold a hearing for America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act (H.R. 1925) before the Natural Resources Committee.  Thanks to the tireless efforts of activists like you, members of the Committee will now move the bill forward to the next step in the legislative process.

This hearing before Congress is the result of 25 years of activism and growing support that you have helped to build. Now, we need your help to make sure it is a success!  An irreplaceable national treasure, Utah’s BLM wilderness is now closer than ever to permanent protection.  Special thanks go to Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), the bill’s longtime champion and sponsor, and to Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), another redrock champion and chairman of the House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands.

If your representative is already a cosponsor of America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act, please take a moment to thank them for their support and let them know how important this step is toward protection of these special lands.  If your representative has not yet cosponsored the Red Rock bill, please ask them to join the movement to designate wilderness in this iconic landscape by cosponsoring America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act today!

We wholeheartedly thank all of you for your continued activism and support, and look forward to working with you further as America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act advances through Congress.
