Grassroots Outreach

SUWA wouldn’t exist without the support of thousands of people across the nation and from around the world who love Utah’s redrock wilderness and want to help preserve and protect it.  Our grassroots work focuses on creating ways to engage people in communities all over the United States in action to protect the redrock.  Below are just a few of our ongoing outreach projects.  For more information on how to get involved, please visit our online Action Center or Volunteer for Wilderness page.

Illinois Church Slideshow Wild Utah Slideshow Tour
The SUWA slideshow (actually now a DVD presentation), portrays the beauty and vulnerability of redrock country through breathtaking photography, personal interviews, and compelling narration by Robert Redford. After viewing the slideshow, attendees can ask questions of SUWA staff and discuss ways to protect the redrock, including how to organize a meeting with their Members of Congress. Slideshow hosts work with SUWA organizers to invite people to the event.  To view the current slideshow schedule or to find out more about becoming a slideshow host click here.
Faith Based Dialogue

Faith and the Land: Creating an Interfaith Statement about the value of wilderness preservation in Utah
Join an exciting new effort to create an interfaith statement about the importance and value of Utah’s wild lands from a spiritual perspective.  This statement is critically needed to remind our community and our elected leaders that Utahns from all walks of life care deeply about the future of Utah’s wild places and want to see them protected.  To learn more, click here.

Faith-Based Dialogues
Faith-Based Dialogues provide communities of faith with opportunities to explore issues related to wilderness preservation in Utah. For more information about involving communities of faith in conversation about Utah wilderness, click here.
