Kanab Resource Management Plan

"Despite the impression given by the BLM management plans, the public lands belong to all of us, not only to OHV users."
--The Salt Lake Tribune, July 22, 2008       Read editorial

Located near the Arizona border, the Kanab BLM district includes towering sandstone cliffs, brilliantly colored pink sand dunes intermixed with ponderosa pines, and year-round desert streams with hanging gardens. ORV use is the chief concern in this area and poses serious risks to the Moquith Mountain Wilderness Study Area/Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Parunuweap Canyon, and the Vermilion Cliffs.  Since the existing management plan was drafted in 1978, many new motorized routes have been pioneered in previously undistrubed areas.

Status: Final RMP released. Protest Period ended August 18.
